As you will come to discover, I have one of the craftiest, most creative, most nifty families ever. For Christmas, we decided instead of
buying everybody gifts, we would
make them! I know this is a little late, seeing as it is almost March... but I figured I would show it to ya'll anyways.
I made everybody dreamcatcher necklaces! And since I didn't think to document and take picture step by step when I was making them, I just made another one (probably my LAST one, seeing as it takes a couple hours and I made myself every color already) and took pictures of it.
For the ring, I used these cheap little bracelets I bought at Wal-Mart for around three dollars. Some had charms, which I easily removed, and some were somewhat weaved-looking, as you can see. Those didn't work as well, which is why I still have so many of them.
I used suede cord and hemp cord, as well as thin black thread (i used white thread on some of my other ones, but I chose black this time!), and of course, feathers and beads! I also bought the thread and cords at Wallyworld, however I got the feathers from my aunt Laurie. She plucked them off of the quail herself! Check her out!

First, I took one of the bracelets and tied the suede cord tightly at the top, making a knot and a loop. I then began looping the black suede cord all around it.
After its all wrapped tightly and tied at the top near the knot, I began weaving the intricate design in the middle. It's hard to make it nice and even; the one I did today isn't the best but I figured it didn't really matter! If you didn't notice, there's another dreamcatcher in the background that my cousin Lacey bought me an an estate sale! It smells sooo bad, but it's sooo pretty.
Then I added three feathers somewhat evenly spaced at the bottom, attached with some thin gold wire. It's not too terribly difficult; the hard part is making the wire tight enough where its looped around the ring so that it doesn't move too freely when you're wearing it. Trust me, it would drive you crazy too. It's also hard to do it well enough to where the feather won't fall out.. I'm not sure if that's even possible!
The last thing I did was I added a bead at the base of every feather and attached it with more wire.
I added one more bead to the loop at the top and some hemp cord as the necklace, and then I was finished! You like my shirt? It's Lacey's (; princess-lacey.blogspot.com!
These are the others I made for Christmas before I gave them to everyone! Tan, brown, gray, and black! I even have a teal, but its mine (;
So yeah, two hours to make that little thing. I'm probably not even going to wear them anymore because the feathers constantly fall out, and its a hassle to reattach them every day. I might just put this one on my wall somewhere! Hope you enjoyed, <3
